here is something in the way possibility shimmers at the edge of routine, inviting us to open our windows, to let in a new and dazzling clarity, a sense that is both a trembling risk and an inexplicable brightness.
Once I listen closely, if I unclench my fists from habit, the world reveals itself not as a single thread but as a tangle of paths, each one flickering with the chance to become otherwise. So maybe, now, in this raw light, I become the sort of person who looks at the day’s pale corridors and sees not an endless hallway but a latticework of unexpected doors.
I begin to walk outside myself, among the quicksilver of morning, where every ordinary thing feels splintered open, newly charged. And this, too, is part of it: to witness the world not as a language to be translated or a problem to be solved, but as a constant, confounding becoming. Letting go of what I know, so that for one moment, brief and unrepeatable, I see things as they are: the stranger’s face at the coffee counter, the pavement glazed with rain, the slow collapse of a loved one’s certainty.
Here is no prescription for how to live, but here is this: to keep reaching for the world’s pulse, to be startled by it, to recognise myself in the shock of its beauty and its terror. Maybe I will look at life with new eyes, and move through my days with the trembling faith that every small thing is worthy of astonishment, and every hour is, in itself, a beginning: seeing life as it is…
